Question:

Is it ok to have 1 male and 2 females in a cage together?

would it be ok if my male bird mates with 2 female birds..or will soemthing wrong...? i havent done it i just want to know

  1. What kind of bird?  For most birds (parrots, finches, etc.), the male would pair off with one of the females and they would start to bully the other female to get rid of her.  It takes both mom and dad to raise most chicks, so if the male has two families, the hens may have trouble keeping everyone fed and warm by themselves.


  2. I would suggest to have one pair per cage.  The male will choose one and then bully the other one to try to get her to leave.

  3. The female lays the eggs but if the male didn't mate properly with her then the eggs would never be fertile.

    Why do you want to breed them anyway?  There are way to many unwanted birds already.
