Is it ok to have a pink sapphire as an engagement ring? ?

It doesn't matter. Engagement rings do not have to be diamond, just because they typically are. The only thing that really matters is that you love it. I mean, you are the one who will be wearing it for the rest of your life, right?

If that's the one you LOVE, then I say go for it!

It is a gorgeous ring!  The ring is a symbol of your love and it doesn't have to be diamond.  The pink sapphire is one of my favorites.  Congratulations!

absolutely.  That is a goergeous ring.  My engagement ring is tanzanite and never thought twice about it.  He actually picked it out without any of my input (didn't call friends or anything. did it all on his own:D) he came home with tanzanite ring and I never thought twice about it.

I actually love it more than a diamond.  Everyone has diamonds, makes me feel even ,more special.

That ring is so pretty!  It looks a lot like mine! lol.

My engagement ring is a centre diamond with pink sapphires on both sides of it (like a three-stone ring).  My fiance designed it for me, without my knowledge, and it's PERFECT for me and my girly personality.

If he had put a centre sapphire instead of diamond I would love it just the same though!  He's pretty traditional so he wanted to buy my a diamond, but I think a pink sapphire (if that's what you want, and I am totally on the same page as you) is a perfect engagement ring too!

The really cool thing about pink sapphire is that if they're dark enough (I'm not sure that one is) to look red in some lights, then technically your stone changes from being a sapphire to being a ruby, as ruby is just a red version of the same mineral as sapphire.

Granted, me referring to my ring as having a magic-changing stone because of this is slightly immature, but it's still fun.

That is perfectly Fine! My fiance got me an opal ring for my engagement ring because other stones are usually less expensive than diamonds.

I think its almost better to do other stones since you shouldn't spend a fortune on diamonds for a ring you will only wear for the length of your engagement (though I suppose it depends on the stones since some might be more expensive than diamonds.) The wedding ring is something you wear for many more years.\

Plus, its your ring that you have to wear, and you are the only person who has to be happy with it!
