My OB/GYN won't give treatment, only over the counter meds....and I am delivering in 2 weeks. I either have severe cold, or bronchitis coming on. (Stuffy nose and wheezy lungs)

  1. Yes, I had bronchitis from about my 9th month of pregnancy until my son was a month old, I coughed so much I seperated the muscle from my ribs and couldn't even walk! My son came out healthy as could be! You'll be fine, I know it's frustrating... because you can't really treat it, but here in a couple weeks you wont be worried about it anymore!

  2. What do you mean is it ok?  If there is nothing your doctor can do about it, and you are going to have a baby, well, then, it doesn't matter.  You will have a respiratory issue and have a baby!  It is too dangerous to give you any real strong meds, because they will enter the baby and could make him/her extremely sick, and whether or not you understand birth, it is hard work for that baby, and they need all the strength they can muster and any meds will make it more difficult.

As for you, just treat the symptoms, get plenty of rest, and drink lots of fluids.  Good luck with the delivery.

If you are not going to breast feed afterwards, then you could take some meds, but if you are, the meds will get into the milk and make the baby sleepy and really lithirgic, and you don't want that.  You are just going to have to ride this out, and that is always tough when you are extremely uncomfortable.  But good luck.
