right now i have a common goldfish and a comet goldfish in separate bowls, but after some research found that it wasn't the greatest idea. The biggest upgrade i can afford right now is a 10 gallon for the 2 of them. I've heard that the adults need like 10-20 gallons per fish, but is 10 for the both of them ok for now? (they are both about an inch long)

  1. thats fine for now, it should be 10 gallons per goldfish, yeah, for adults

  2. well just make sure to get a good filter because they are messy.you can find some awesome deals that are practically a steal in aquariums/fish tanks.    i have seen like a 30 gallon tank for 20 dollars witch i bought and it came with ALOT of accessories. i even have seen a 55 gallon tank for 50 dollars so you may want to look

  3. Yes. they will enjoy the company too

  4. i would keep them in a 20 gallon tank or more due to ick and them getting stressed. though you can keep one in a 10 gallon for now but not to long!

  5. Short term, yes it will be fine.

Long term they are going to need a tank much bigger than a 10gal. Think 50gal+ for those fish. But a 10gal with a filter is a huge improvement on an unfiltered bowl.

When people say common goldfish need 50gal+ tanks, they are correct, for Adult sized fish. It's OK to keep a small comet in a 10gal for maybe 6-12 months and move it to a bigger home later.

    comets/commons are really pond fish

  8. yeah that would be fine for now

  9. yes they will but keep close eye on them for the 1st day that you get the tank becuz sum time it may be squashy for them but am pretty sure it willl they will love, and enjoy the company.....
