I put my contacts in yesterday morning at about 5:30 am... and had them in all day. Well I feel asleep and didnt take them out by accident and when I woke up my eyes were pretty gunky but I had to leave for the day and so i kept my contacts in. its now 24 + hours as its 10 am. I plan to keep them in untill midnight as im working. is this bad for your eyes?

  1. Well, I had a friend who left his in for a few days and had to get them surgically removed. so...

  2. It's funny you ask this question.  I just recently had an eye exam for new contact and asked the Doc.  His response was that he advises not to were the contacts 24/7 for the month because the contacts need CO2, meaning for you to blink.  so for a night it will not harm you, but it is healthier to take them out when you are asleep.  Maybe some eye drops will help you until you finish work, if that may be possible for you to do.  Good luck.

  3. That depends on the lens.  Some of them have approval for up to 30 days continuous wear.  Some for only 6 days.  Some must be removed every day.  Not everyone is a candidate for continuous wear.  You'll need to check with your doctor to see if you are.  One episode of sleeping in them may not cause a problem, but I wouldn't make a habit of it until you get clearance from your doctor.

  4. it probably is but ive had mine in for a few days now and im not dead.
