  1. most rodents prefer the dark

  2. no its fine.

my pet bunny is in the dark at night and hes fine

    hamster is the same thing

  3. It's fine to leave it in the dark. Hamsters are nocuturnal creatures and are geared for it.

  4. Hamsters are nocturnal, so they can see better at night than they can during the day! LOL

  5. Hamsters are known to bite their own ears off when left in the dark for prolonged periods of time due to the "dark noise" that small mammals are attuned to. In the wild they would counter this "dark noise" by gathering together and producing "hamstersong", a synchronised multi-threading of different notes and pitches which is inaudible to the human ear but counters "dark noise". However, if you are keeping a lone pet hamster there is a possibility that the "dark noise" will damage its equilibrium to such an extent that it may resort to chewing its own ears off in an effort to cut out the "dark noise" and stop itself from sliding into madness. Many pet shops now supply a range of hamster-muffs, which are designed to sit on a hamsters head, covering its tiny ears, and thus providing some protection from "dark noise". Hamsters are "passively nocturnal" which means that they keep very still in the dark and are unlikely to remove their hamster-muffs while you're in bed so you can have a pleasant night of untroubled sleep.

  6. yes you can leave your hamster in the dark. like other animals, hamsters can see in the dark. as i have found out they come more alive in the dark! :) do yes im sure he will be fine. they usually sleep throught the day and rave during the night.

  7. LMAO! UR HAMSTER WILL BE FINE.

  8. yes it will be fin caus it has night vision so dose mine

  9. yes just give him a torch

  10. Hamsters are nocturnal, which means they sleep during the day and get active during the night. Just like most rodents. So yes it's ok leaving your hamster in the dark.

  11. hamsters are nocturnal, they are more active at night. so your hamster will be more comfortable in complete darkness than in bright sunlight.

  12. No your hamster will be fine, the tend to become more awake at night!

  13. It should be located in an area where the room temperature will remain stable without drafts and away from direct sunlight. (taken from source below....you should read it...it might be useful to you)

  14. Hamsters belong to the rodent family (rats, mice, raccoons, opossums, skunks etc) - and rodents are known as nocturnal animals, primarily because this is when they are active, and see the best :-).

Do not leave a nightlight on for your hamster, or he will never know when it's time to exercise etc.

Oh yes, hamsters LOVE to exercise at night - yes, that means his little wheel will most likely be spinning and making LOTS of noise for you during your hours of slumber.

I'm sure if you google "hamster vision" or something similar, you will find LOADS of articles supporting their night vision.

  15. Hamsters mostly sleep @ night. Stop overworking yourself. Hamsters aren't that stupid.

  16. You can leave him/her in the dark. Its fine.

    Good Luck!

Oh by the way they are nocturnal so they love nightime.

  17. Hamsters are NOCTURNAL animals, which means that they are only awake at night, and sleep during the day. If you leave a light shining on your hamster at night, it might confuse him. Hamsters do not have good eyesight to begin with and can get around by smelling. A hamster's eyesight is better at night. Your hamster will not hurt itself in the dark as long as there is no sharp edges in the cage.

--so to get to the point no, your hamster will never need light at night, they loveee the dark! Hope I helped =D

  18. Its fine for them in the pitch black. In the wild there's no one to switch a table lamp on while they go looking for dinner so your hamster will be fine through the night!
