Is it ok to leave an 8 year old and 4 year old asleep in bed, while you pop next door?

My friend had a party at her house on saturday night, and invited (amongst others) her next door neighbour.

The next door neighbour had no baby sitter, so waited until 10pm, when the kids were asleep, and went next door to the party.

She set her alarm for every 5 mins, when she would go and check on the kids.

do you think this is alright?

I don't believe she went to check on them every 5 minutes. Its not OK, they are far too young to be left alone.

A..if something happened it would always be on there conscience

B..just think of the media stories in the past year that centred on people leaving there children unattended,even if it was only for five Minuit's,the person would be labelled and there name dragged through the mud

C..its illegal

Ahemmm !! Does Maddie not ring any bells for you. A long time ago it may have been possible to do this but NO not in this present time where anything can happen. It's just not worth it. My parents used to always leave their front door key in the lock for anyone to open and come in. Things have changed now even if it's only for 5 minutes

personally, no, 2 reasons, she could not enjoy herself if she had to check on her kids every 5 Min's, also it can take less time than that for something to happen to 1 or both of her children.

well, if she was regularly checking on the kids i suppose its okay. your really not supposed to leave children home alone if there under 12 though but it sounds like she was being responsible enough

No get a trusted relation 2 look after them, or open the wallet and pay 4 a nanny

No I don't. I thought you were going to say for some sort of emergency, but for  party I think it's unacceptable. What if they woke up and came downstairs to an empty house? That would be very scary.

No. It only takes seconds for some wierdo to snatch the kids.

I wouldn't have done it because anything can happen in 5 minutes and she wouldn't be able to hear it.
