Is it ok to make a cake Wednesday to serve on Saturday?

It is Madeira and I will add a little jam and marzipan and roll out icing and sweets? Can I store it outside of the fridge? Having a party and would like to get it done in advance you see..

it will be safe to eat and all, but it will taste stale and old, and if you put it in the fridge, it will be totally dried out.  I would not recommend this at all if you want to make a good impression and serve something to be proud of.  I know from experience.
