I dont know it seems like no one is taking Global Warming seriously... I know its real and am trying to do everything I can to contribute to fixing the problem.

But have a look at this commercial from Australia... it's pretty out there... (for those of you Aussies - it has Emma from Big Brother 2007)

Don't you think this makes the whole problem seem so trivial... ? Someone tell me I'm wrong!

  1. I was in a climate change conference today at Adelaide Uni and I know that it's on and it's happending FAST! We need to put a stop to it sooner and not later or else the temperatures will get higher than ever. A very big problem is that Iceland and green land are meltin and that would make sea levels higher by loads.

Also if you have seen that C02 Black balloons ad then I hope you understand it. Many C02 is let out into the atmosphere. And if you read every single word I wrote, It probably equals to 5 balloons out.... I donno how many c02 is in one balloon in the ad but probably about 5000 (I heard a number with a 5)

  2. dont make fun of global warming.be very serious about it because it is our country and our earth to be aware of global warming.

  3. That's awesome!  I don't see a joke, I see complete honesty.  Global warming is a natural part of the Earth's long-term climatic cycle.  All we can do is adapt, which is exactly what this commercial is saying.  It's very plausible man will get out to enjoy cooler weather if the trend continues long enough.

Given man-made global warming is the most wide-spread joke today, I see no reason why we shouldn't laugh at it.

  4. Yes you can, freedom of speech, and it's the biggest lie of man.

  5. Why should anybody take a Global Warming Doomsday Cultist seriously.  Are they supposed to show only Polar Bears drowning.  It isn't acceptable to show warmer nights, longer growing seasons and nicer winters.  If it is not doom, it offends their religion so we are supposed to have compassion and not offend their deeply held beliefs.  It was silly because a winter day will not be like a summer day in 50 years or whatever.  It will likely be something like a degree warmer than it would be without humans but NOBODY knows how warm it would be without human influence.

  6. It is definitely a big issue

    nothing to be joked about

most people who make fun are people who live nicely and have no problems with food shelter or any other so they think that they cannot HAVE PROBLEMS..so they don't take anything seriously

it is not something to joke but-- I HATE THAT VIDEO

  7. No your wrong, I believe global warming is real, but I don't believe its down to us. But!!! even if it were laughter is good, and if things get really bad!! we could probably do with a lot more humour to stop us getting so hot under the collar.lighten up it could all be over by tomorrow.

  8. Well, people might have thought about making fun of the Spanish Inquisition, the Salem Witch Trials, Joseph McCarthy, Adolph Hitler, Pol Pot, Sadam Hussein, etc. at the time.

But they wouldn't have lasted too long if found out.

I also wouldn't make fun of the guy walking down the street wearing a sandwich board proclaiming the end of the world is near.

People with those kind of serious psychiatric issues tend to be intolerant, unpredictable and dangerous.

  9. I couldn't get the video to work, so I can't comment on that specifically, but in general I think it *should* be ok to joke about global warming, even though it is potentially a serious issue. A good sense of humor often helps when feeling depressed and ready to give up fighting for a cause - so why not with global warming?

Another issue is that those who joke about it because they don't believe it is happening, or is important, will be seen as more relaxed, less uptight people - it;s easy to dislike people who are *too* serious.

So my own opinion is that I sometimes joke about it, or say things that make it seem like I take the issue lightly - but in such a way that it is clear that I do in fact take it very seriously.

Does that make sense? I'm sure I'm not the only one doing this. Sometimes it helps you focus your energy better after having had a bit of a giggle about something.

You might compare it to going to a funeral of a close friend and finding the whole thing so overwhelming that you feel you must lighten up the atmosphere with some jokes!

  10. no! it's a serious problem

  11. This is a very serious issue and not to be joke with ! But people dont realize it because of how long it will take for people to find out
