  1. That depends o what you mean by OK. YOu would have to make sure it is legal, which I would imagine it is. Even though that is pretty far removed it would probably be smart to get genetically screened. Family members may still flip.

  2. Actually you could marry your fourth, third cousin and even your second cousin in most states. And surprisingly enough some very famous people have... married their second cousin that is.

As for one person saying you should get a blood test from your doctor..... I'm not sure what your doctor actually test for.  Since genetically it's a bit of a crapshoot.  Even people that are from different cultures can marry each other and still have a baby with a birth defect.  So nothing is foolproof with nature.

Charles Darwin married his first cousin (this dude invented evolution), Amber Einstein married his first cousin (Elsa) , Rudy Giuliani former mayor of New York married his second cousin..... and former President Franklin D. Roosevelt married his fifth cousin !

  3. Legally yes.

  4. if you are asking if it is legal, then yes of course it is. most states and countries allow you to marry even your FIRST cousin, only a handful of states do not. but all states allow marriage of 2nd 3rd 4th or 5th cousins

  5. yes still a little weird but its far enough out there you shouldn't have any problems having a kid

  6. Yes.

  7. This is legal in ALL states.

  8. Oh, my God. 5th Cousin is so far removed, they're not even related. There are probably some marriage issues in there too, which make the person so far away from you it doesn't matter.

Anything past 1st cousin (meaning second cousin on) is fine. Legally and "medically."

The only reason to not marry a first cousin genetically is that there is a greater chance that you will both be carriers for genetic disorders, meaning you will most likely give those genes to your children, which can cause issues.

Though many diseases are from recessive genes, if you pass 2 recessive genes the kid will still get it. Normally, if one person carries the recessive gene, the other person's Dominant, "normal" gene keeps it from cropping up.

  9. Yes, because the blood line is so distant.  It isn't a close relation at all.  I think you can married anyone after your third cousin.
