Is it ok to mix honey and water into my rabbits food??? ?

is it bad for my rabbits? they seem to love it i put honey into a cup get boiling water disolve the honey then tip it in their food. ovcorse i let it cool down before feeding it to them!

Honey is not good for rabbits at all! It will cause obesity.

For treats use vegetables and fruits.

no this is not a good idea

rabbits dont lose weight very well. also giving birds honey may seem like a nice treat and they love it but it can cause blockages and swelling in major arteries, it may be the same with rabbits

I don't know why you would.

Honey is VERY sugar-y and bad for them- it can make them overweight, cause heart problems, and even diabetes.

They may love it, but it's not healthy- thousands of people love McDonalds and that's not healthy!

Just give them their food as it is, and then give them fruit and veg/store bought treats, and pleanty of hay. You can buy treat sticks with honey in it, and it is a controlled amount- not tipped all over their food which is meant to be a /complete/ food, not a treat.

if you have pet's smart or another good pet store ask the sales people if anyone knows if it is ok for rabbits to have honey.

No, honey is not a natural food for a rabbit, nor is sugar.

I don't feed honey to any pet or even baby people because honey in it's natural form is loaded with botulism spores.  Adult people have a natural immunity to this, but infants and people with compromised immune systems and animals that haven't developed this immunity can get very ill or die from eating honey.

There have been studies that have linked honey to SIDS in babies .  

When you boiled the honey, it's likely that most of the bad spores and enzymes were killed , but it is still sugar and sugar is not at all good for rabbits

It's good to ask questions though.  It's the only way we learn.
