My husband and I both LOVE the name Isabella, especially since we have such a plain last name, we wanted something strong for a first name. However, we have a 5 year old cat named Bella. Would that be too weird to name our daughter Isabella? I keep telling my husband "I wish we would have named Bella 'Fluffy' or something"...lol. What do you think?

  1. It's fine; Isabella is a pretty name and anyway cats are cute, so it wouldn't be bad or anything!

  2. hey ya i think it is fine i mean its not like she is going to storm of every time you call her and if it does work out just start to call her something else like a nickname hope this helped

  3. Your daughter would probully think it was cool.

Myy best friend ellie has a dog called ellie lol. :) xx

  4. Absolutly :)

Since you both love it, go for it.

If you are planning to call the baby Bella, I would possibly consider immediatly changing the cats name to something similar sounding like Stella or Ella, so the cat can get used to the new name, and you won't be calling them both "bella". If however, you do not plan to call the baby bella, (i love izzy, for isabella) then don't worry about the cat being called Bella.

  5. Absolutely!

  6. Isabella is a pretty Italian name.  Shouldn't be worried about the cat's name, just shows you love your pets too!

  7. I think they're too similar. Because at some point you'll probably want to call your daughter "bella" as a nickname or just a shortened form. And it would always remind you of your cat.

  8. We had a puppy named Jaxon that we had to put to sleep because of medical issues when he was only 5 months old.  I still love the name and wish I hadn't used it on a puppy so we could use it on our son. If you love Isabella, use it.  It's not the same name and you are probably the only one that will even associate the two.  I know someone who is named Jackie and her dog is named Jack.

  9. I like cats but I really believe cats dont know thier name. They only react to the pitch of your voice.I suggest you rename your cat(spot)and give your daughter the beautiful name you picked for her.

  10. If you do not call her Bella

I might go with Isabelle, and use Izzy for short

  11. It's fine.

  12. It would be pretty weird if you also called your daughter Bella for short. But you don't want to regret your daughters name for the rest of you life just because of a cat. My grandma had a dog with the same name as me when i was born.

  13. I think it's fine.

  14. It is absolutely fine :) Especially since you both love the name.

LOL...my inlaws raise horses, I'm pregnant with my second child, and both of my kids have the same names as one of the horses (my son's name is Tristin, and daughter will be Josey), both names of horses we've owned.

  15. What if you name her Isabelle? That's not TOO close. But I think no one will notice anyways, and if someone does, say "That's odd I didn't realize that!!!"

  16. I don't think it matters.

I think Isabella is pretty just give the baby nickname Izzie instead of Bella.  I bet when she is older she will love it. My husband named one of our twins Jacob, and my sister has a cat called Jake - When my son saw the cat (hes 5) this summer he said JAKE THE CAT JUST LIKE MY NAME!!!!   So really its fine.  We call our son Cubby though anyway, but he just thought it was funny.

  17. Its ok! Its not the same name

  18. Weird...maybe. But, would I let a cat stop me from using a name that I love?NO! Go for it!

  19. its fine, name ur daughter w/e u want dont let a cats name stop u from naming ur daughter something u want!!!

    hope i helped :)

    -Felicia

  20. I don't see a problem with it at all. I think Isabella is a beautiful name.

  21. hmm i can see where you're coming from but i do think it's fine...it's a different name. and think of a different nickname for your daughter that sounds completely different, like Izzy or Elsie. Suddenly the name seems completely unrelated!
