Is it ok to omit a previous job on my resume?

Question

my resume is over 1 page in length by a couple sentences, i would like to make it only 1 page long. so is it okay if i dont write down a job that i had when i was 14? (im 20 now) and i made such little money at that job that i didnt even need to do taxes that year.

A good guideline for a good resume is to go back at least 3 jobs, depending on how long you have had them.  You may need to go back more if you didn't hold them for long.  The goal of your resume is to show job stability.  I was responsible for hiring at my previous job.  I always looked at how long someone held a job, reasons for leaving and if their positions were relevant to the job I was filling.  If you are 20 now, no employer is really interested in what you did when you were 14.

Yes, you are perfectly fine. I would just make sure that I do not leave gaps that are too big between jobs because that does not look too good in the eyes of employers. Also it is acceptable to skip a few details especially if they do not pertain to the specific position you are applying for. Good luck in your job search!

It is permissible (and even advisable) to omit things from your resume for formatting issues. The caution would be to only omit things that you do not think are relevant to what quality of employee you would make. The only caution I would give you is that you should not omit jobs if it would cause a gaping hole where you went without work for an extended period of time. The reason for this is that if there is an obvious hole in your work history, you will get questioned about it in your interview anyway. A job from when you were 14, however, shouldn't be a problem.

it depends on how they asked the question on the application.  If they asked for ALL jobs, then list all jobs.  Attach a 2nd sheet if necessary.  You lie on your application, it can be grounds for dismissal years from now.  Why take the chance on something so trivial.  If you don't have contact information, at least list the name of the company, city/state, work time frame.  Good luck.

You can go to someone who is an expert in resume.  Make more emphasis on the job that you stay the longer. Also it depend of what kind of job you are looking for.  Yes you don't have to write down a job when you were 14. or start from 16 or 17.  Some times you have to make more than one resume, let say you are looking for sales job, if you have more experience in that field, put the emphasis in that job.
