Question:

Is it ok to place rear facing car seat in single cab truck?

We are expecting our first baby. The on,ly vehicle we have is a single cab silverado truck. Is it ok to place an infant car seat in the truck as long as you turn the airbag off?

We cannot afford to get a different vehicle right now. Any help is much apprecaited!

  2. Short answer: yes you can. Legally you can

    Long answer: Yes you can, but it is not the safest option. Personally, I would do my darndest to get something with a back seat to drive b/c the front seat of any vehicle is not the safest place to put a child's seat whether the airbag is off or not. Good for you for knowing to turn off the airbag. :) If its the aboslute only option, then you'll have to do it, but I would keep looking for some way to get even an older vehicle with a backseat.

  3. It depends on your state.  Here in VA, it's not illegal, it's just very unsafe.

  4. It can be very dangerous if there is an airbag there. If there is an option to physically switch off the airbag, often done with a key, do that FIRST.

  5. Yes. If it is your only option. Make sure you turn off the airbag though. That could be dangerous.
