    i'd be afraid the roots would get too crowded

  4. Are you talking about a Mandarin Orange? If so, then no problem. Strawberries have shallow roots and won't interfere with the citrus. It will also help with watering, strawberries are a good ground cover and will help retain some moisture in the container. I do this kind of thing all the time with containerized trees.

  5. As long as the pot is large enough for the roots of both, then yes.  In fact, that would look very nice.
