Is it ok to profit from saving the rainforest?

It seems that on the most part that charities are left to go about saving the rainforest . What if a privately owned company stepped in and was able to save and protect huge amounts of forest and was also able to make a small profit in doing so while entrusting that land to non-profit organizations.

As the main income earner for a family to care and protect them is not seen as a charity work then should saving and protecting our planets rainforests be left just to charities.

Thank you for you opinions..

  1. Certainly can!, You may part of it. many privately own company worked with it in this world. In slogan ' world balancing by save the forest and economic growth'

  2. It's better than not profiting at all!  Profiting will make it all the more worthwhile, and may allow you to quit your day job to continue with the good work of conserving natural resources full time.

However, you should realize that, in the short term, conserving the land has a lesser monetary value.  I would love to see someone make money by not cutting the rainforests down.  However, the need for farmland in Brazil and other rainforest countries is seen as greater than the need to preserve the forests even though rainforest land, with only a small covering of topsoil and clay underneath, is not very well suited to supporting crops.  This results in farmers using a tract of land for a few years then clearcutting more forest and planting there, then moving on after a few years and so on.

It's a destructive cycle, but it is the reality for several South American countries right now.

  3. Yes. It is a good incentive to do it.
