  1. it may be eaten

  2. um....... i would not suggest it. my goat ate a tin can once, it will probably eat a blanket..... lol!!

  3. A blanket is more than just a choking hazard.  Any kind of fabric (carpet, blankets, etc.) will retain water and/or urine and can lead to a wet stall.  Wet stalls lead to hoof rot.

If you are trying to make a pen more comfortable for your animal, you can use a stall mat (like what they use for horses), pine shavings, sawdust, straw or hay.  I prefer pine shavings because they are absorbent, help with odor and are easy to clean out.  Straw or hay tend to get wet and mat down and are a real pain to pitchfork out.

If you have new kids that you're trying to keep warm, a brood lamp (like what you would use for young chicks) can be suspended from an overhead rafter and used to help keep them warm.  Just make sure any cords are well out of a goat's reach - because they will chew on them.

    Hope this helps!

  4. No, the goat will eat it and can choke.

  5. Well, this is kind of awkward.  I have goats, La Mancha, Saanen, French Alpine and Bohr and they wear blankets when we show them and no, they never chew the material.  I have used a blanket on the ground in the barn many times when I was worried about a sick or young goat getting a chill, again without chewing.

I would not use a blanket as a permanent flooring, I do use stall mats with sawdust or straw if I am wanting more insulation, but for comfort, I have and will use towels and blankets.  I have used old horse blankets and used bedding without a goat chewing on either.
