Is it ok to put a small elastic band (like used in your hair) around the pincher claw of a hermit crab?

use like a really small rubberband. or somthing.

They need their claws to help them climb, manipulate food, drink water, and dig. If they have the bands on they won't be able to function. And they will pull them off.

It's easy to avoid being pinched. Handle with care, support the crab's body and respect the crabs need and space.
