i just purchased a titleist 975d driver and was thinking about putting in a dynamic gold x100 shaft in it but wanted to know if it's ok to do so since it has a bore thru hosel. would there be any problems? also the club came at a standard 45 inches and i prefer a slightly shorter club so getting a steel shaft would solve that problem.

  1. Yeah, it'll be fine. Shorter is better for accuracy, but steel will be inherently more accurate than graphite. You might consider keeping it 45", until you find out if you can it it or not.

  2. Is it ok? Yes. Would anyone of notability recommend it? NO. My suggestion is to take your query to a professional shop and ask them which graphite shaft most resembles a TT dyn gold x100. Seriously, the graphite shafts are not just hype. They change the properties of the club into one that better uses the shaft, lags more consistently and kicks repeatedly. Really there is a reason they don't put steel shafts in drivers or woods anymore. But to answer your question, YES they do make steel shafts that fit bore through hosels and you could have it re-shafted that way if you want.

  3. you are going to lose plenty of yards with putting in a steel shaft. i have never seen a steel shaft in a driver before but its your choice.

  4. I am a professional clubfitter and the answer is YES but WHY. Companies like Calloway have spent a lot of R&D time so who are we to mess with a good thing? If you want a shorter club cut an inch or so from the butt end. Unless you are a pro you probably won,t feel the differance. Your idea would be like putting a Ford engine in a Mercedes.
