Question:

Is it ok to put neosporin on a dog?

My dog somehow ripped off a small layer of his black skin on his nose, exposing some pink flesh. He's not in pain and doesn't seem bothered by it but I am worried about infection.

Has anyone's dog lost a layer of nose skin? (I've never seen this)

Is it ok to put neosporin on his wound?

  1. It is ok....but, there's a problem....

    Dogs can l**k their noses.

This means that about 10 seconds after you put it on, you dog will likely have licked it off.

No harm in giving it a try, though.

  2. I suggest you clean it with antiseptic. My vet approves the use of Bactine on open wounds.

I agree about the l*****g in the other answer, and think you'd probably be wise to clean the wound & not treat it further. Dogs l**k wounds on their own to keep them sterile. So you shouldn't worry too much.

  3. I use it for everything!!!

  4. Yes it is  fine  to do that.  Hope it better  soon.

  5. neopsorin is okay to use on dogs and cats. :)
