i'm going to V festival, and it would save me a lot of effort carrying a saucepan if it was ok to simply heat the tins of Heinz spaghetti i have? i have a mini stove thing with me, obviously the tin would be hot so i figured i could use a towel to take it off the heat etc. but like the tins not going to explode or melt or something is it??

  1. opened ones fine, but they will bubble over and you wont be able to get the contents out since it will be too hot to pick up.

  2. You  need but to pierce two holes in the top before doing such a thing. This avoids both explosions and excessive mess everywhere!

  3. The tin won't explode as long as the lid is removed but make sure you take the labels of first to stop them burning and tainting the food and stir the contents vigorously continuously to stop them burning on the bottom.  2 mins max should cook it right through.  Heat off let it sit for a few mins wet flannel and remove the tin onto the grass. And eat straight from the tin after letting it sit for another minute.

  4. No its not ok.. you should desist doing this practice as this can result in you becoming ptomaine poisoned..

  5. No it is not - the food inside would expand with the heat and the tin would explode if it was unopened, or if you took the top off the tin, the food would probably overflow. You wouldn't be able to stir the food either, so it wouldn't heat evenly. Buy a nice billy can and heat your food in that! Have fun!
