I was reading about a player famous in the Australian rules football famous for his outbursts and "King hits out on the field... Do they really allow that? By the way, what is a "king hit".

  1. It was much more common when there was little or no video and one umpire. The rules of AFL are very strict about hitting an opponent above the shoulders - that's why nearly every AFLplayer can breathe through their nose and doesn't look ike an ex boxer (i.e with their nose spread around their face).

  2. No, That would just be silly.

  3. king hit is knocking someone out

and no your not allowed to to that in the greatest game

  4. Just watch some old clips of Glen Archer playing. Then you will see what a king hit is.

And it is illegal but one would not think so by watching AFL games.

  5. No. They do not allow king-hitting in Aussie Rules. It is a cowardly form of punching an opponent.

Though not allowed it is still very prevalent.

  6. King hits were never allowed in the game, but years ago they were a part of the game. From the 1990's onwards they have become less and less frequent, as anyone who does throw one will get quite a hefty suspension.

This is common in many footy codes, as there was a general move to eliminate the violence in the game, with public backlash that kids would try to emulate their idols and would throw haymakers left right and centre.

As has been mentioned, most king hits are punches thrown from a position where the recipient cant see them coming, so anyone who throws one is a coward and deserves to be rubbed out of the game. If you're going to hit someone, do it in front of them.

  7. a king hit is a knockout punch

years ago and in some amateur leagues today you can still see it happen (not allowed) but it happens

at the end of most Aussie rules games there is no animosity until the next time they meet on the field

  8. are you talking about chess cause if u are then the answerer is no i think

  9. No. It is not OK to king hit anyone in Australian Rules football.

It brings quite a severe penalty from the tribunal.

A 'King Hit' is where someone punches another from behind; when he is not expecting it; when he is being held by another player or similar.....

This does occur from time to time in Australian Rules........but NEVER in rugby league!

    RR....Y.C.K.M.A.

  10. A king hit is a full roundhouse punch to the head.

If you tried that nowadays, it would cost you a large suspension, at least 6 weeks.

  11. that is when you hit somebody from behind, when they not looking... so no it not ok. and i really don't think its actually allowed.

  12. no they are not allowed.

king hits are for the weak when they hit someone who doesn't see it coming & generally don't get the chance to defend themselves

  13. No. Officially it is not.

Some players think that it is OK to king hit opposing players in Australian Rules football.

These players get rubbed out if reported and convicted. Collingwood always gets favourable treatment in the tribunals though and the players either get off or only answer to a reduced charge.
