Is it ok to serve pizza?

I'm planning a surprise birthday party for my mom. She's turning 40. We are inviting friends and family. I was thinking it would be easy to serve pizza, chips/dip, veggies, fruit, and cake. It's a BYOB party as well. Do you think this is appropriate? What else should I serve?

I don't plan parties often so I don't know if this is ok?

Any suggestions would be fantastic!! :)

  1. I'm thinking you're a teenager then, so no one expects a gourmet sit-down dinner!  Just the fact that you're going to all this work to surprise your mom will mean alot to her! .... Stay with the pizzas (but get a variety of toppings on them).... Have fun!  You're a sweet girl:)

  2. Of coarse you can serve pizza. There's nothing wrong with that.

  3. I think she'd be proud of you!  Add some breadsticks if you like.  My mother would have been floored, even my grandma would have loved it.

  4. As long as she is happy, it is great.  Fun and celebration are the important things. Do not forget the cake.  The candle count should not be accurate.

  5. You've got the right idea.  Keep it simple.  Everyone likes the foods you plan to serve, it's inexpensive, easy to prepare, you can use paper plates for easy clean up, leaving you free to enjoy the party too.  Your mother will be so excited and so proud of you for wanting to do this for her. I say your plan is perfect -- don't change a thing.

  6. I can only assume the BYOB is "be your own boss".

So serve whatever you or she wants bossman.

  7. Sure and Pizza Hut has Pasta also so have fun just remember to get a variety of pizzas.

  8. sounds great! casual b-day parties are never complete without pizza chips and cake. i think you cover the food ideas well. drink suggestion: smoothies. buy some frozen fruit, juice, yogurt, and bananas and whir some up in the blender.it's fun, casual, and super easy.

hope it all goes well! Happy Birthday to your mom!

  9. sure, thats a fine idea. That will be less that the guests have to bring, and less of a mess for you to pick up, especialy if you use paper or plastic plates.

Pizza Hut now also delivers those pasta dishes as well, so that is another possibility.

If you could make a big bowl of punch (gallon fruit punch, gallon of sprite or 7-up and some serbert of your choosing mixed in together) that would be nice.

Hopefully you can get her a couple of the baloon bouquets made up too, if they have a party store near you.

  10. Instead of pizza do a pasta bar, 3 different pastas and sauces, marinara, alfredo and pesto. You can buy these already made also brown chicken breast and ground beef. Serve with caesar salad and french bread.

    Have a great party!

  11. Serve pizza and be sure to put only 29 candles on the cake.

  12. why the h**l not!!
