I have a USPS mailing box. It's a Ready Post box, not priority box or express box.

Is it ok to use it for shipping my package via UPS Ground?

  1. You purchased the Ready Post box, so it is yours to do with as you please.

From your question, I think that you realize that the boxes that USPS provides at no charge, would not be able to be used for any services other than USPS Priority Mail or Express Mail.

It was mentioned already, do not wrap in paper and it is also preferable that you use a printed label rather than handwritten on the box. A lot of the sorting process is automated and a person is not necessarily trying to read the address information.

  2. You can use the USPS box if you wrap it in brown paper and

put your addresses on the wrap.

  3. I am a UPS Store owner.  Yes, you can use a box from the post office, and no, you never want to wrap it in brown paper.  All labels for UPS shipping are printed at the store.  You do not have to write addresses on the box.  The reason you never want to wrap a box in brown paper is because items shipped via UPS are done so via conveyor belt, so if the paper somehow gets snagged on the belt, it rips off the pre printed label as well.
