yes it's fine. it's recommended if you're dog is a finicky eater. it'll get them interested in eating their food.

I wouldn't even get your dog started on adding stuff to get them to eat.  You will cause your dog to become more fussy than it already is.  Put your dog on a high quality food.  Put it down at feeding time and give it 20 minutes.  If we walk away, pick it up and the dog has to wait for the next feeding.  Your dog will not starve itself.  Don't let your dogs manipulate  you like that.  After afew days, your dog will be eating their food.  You don't want to upset the balance of the nutrients in the food by adding something that your dog doesn't need.  Are we talking about a little dog breed here?
