  1. maybe

  2. usually sharks only attack if they are hungry and you look like a sea turtle or other such animal or if they can smell blood and if you look before you get the wave you look like a sea turtle but usually the coast guard will designate shark areas.

  3. It think that if people knew how many sharks that there really were at any given time right off the coasts that they would never go in the water.

Honestly, I think sharks should be the least of your worry.  There are dozens of other freak accidents that could occur that could kill you, but those aren't stopping you from surfing so why should a shark sighting?

It's your call, but a surfer in a wet suit, lying on a surfboard looks shocking similar to a seal from the vantage point of a shark.

I mean, I'm not going to be walking through the Serengeti wearing a wildebeest suit anytime soon for the same reason that you won't catch me dressing like a seal floating at the top of the ocean. The predator won't know that I'm not dinner until they're already biting me.

    But that's just my perspective.
