I am about to give a eulogy for my mothers funeral, and want to know if it is ok to use the word the word **** when telling a story about her. We are atheist, and the funeral is not in a church.

  1. Depends who its for..probably not ok for a parent

  2. Please don't. It would be in very bad taste. Sorry about your mom...mine is dying now...I won't even speak when it comes to that part of the funeral.Just in case I said the wrong thing and knowing myself the way I do..it could happen. I volunteered to chaperon my son's Field trip  and I got so pissed I told the kids to shut the F up...all the teachers were staring at me and I embarrassed my son..but the Little brats did shut up.

  3. My aunt died a few years ago and during the Eulogy, my cousin (her daughter) said, and what would Mom have thought if she'd let everyone get together and we didn't include her or she missed it.....Sh*t.......

Delivered from the pulpit with 4 priests in the room.

  4. Generally no.  If your mother specifically authorized that sort of thing in her lifetime, yes.  Some people will and it is good to respect the wishes of the Dead.  Sometimes it is good to ignore them though.  Celebrating the end of a life is a solemn occasion and you not only want to be on your best behavior, you want to give the most attractive picture of your mother your can.  So if she would approve, and you are ABSOLUTELY SURE of that, you might.  But as a rule, don't.

  5. i wouldn't

  6. I definitely would not swear.  I don't think your mother would like it, and I think you should be dignified.  Also, there might be others who would be offended.  I know that I would be offended, and I would probably get up and leave.  I would keep it clean!  Sorry about your mom!  I know that is tough to lose your mom.

  7. depends, was it your mother who said the offending word? as your athiest and it's not in a church i supose it would be ok if your mother would have wanted it

  8. Depends on the context and the audience. If it's in a quotation that has a point or a meaning to it, it might be okay.

If the story is important to you, I would go for it. People will understand the reason.
