I am taking the following tablets every day, does anyone know if it is ok to be taking all these:

Fish oil - 1100 mg - 1 per day (for low mood)

evening primrose oil - 1050mg - 1 per day (for breast pain)

glucosamine and chondroitin - 2 per day (for joint pain)

5 HTP - 50 mg - 2 per day (taking for low mood)

Also do you think these things work ; they are quite expensive.

  1. Only take them if your doctor prescribes them. If he doesn't prescribe some just to make sure tell you are taking them

  2. The only thing that MAY have some effect is the evening primrose oil.

Forget the rest. Supplements are a waste of money - why not just eat some oily fish 2 or 3 times a week and get all the benefits of those expensive tablets at a fraction of the cost.

  3. Yes you may take all of these together if you'd like.  I am curious though...do you have on going breast pain?

FYI to all that suggested going to a doctor to get advice, etc...doctors don't practice alternative health so there advice in this department is flawed.  See a naturopathic doctor if you are seeking natural remedies and a doctor if you would like prescriptions....anyways...

Fish oil is great to take because it is helpful for many things including mood.

Evening Primrose Oil is a good female tonic, good for pms and memopause symptoms as well as skin problems.

Gluco/Chondro is helpful if you have osteo arthritis.

5 htp has good results with mood problems but it can take up to a month to show results.

these supplements all have results but certain supplements work better for some than others, if you find after a month that you don't notice a difference than they probably won't work.

  4. Taking all four of those together is quite safe as they are all natural supplements and hopefully they are helping for what you are taking them for.

Mixing prescription medications can be dangerous because many of them interact with bad side effects.

  5. Good grief girl, you must rattle. Stop now they are all rubbish, just eat a healthy diet.

  6. If you're wondering if any of them interact with each other, I think your safe on that note.  You can safely take them all, IMO.  If you have any doubts, ask a pharmacist.

Out of the supplements you list, I like to use fish oil and and, very rarely, evening primrose oil.  They are high in Omega-3 Fatty Acids, which do a lot of good for your cardiovascular system and brain.

If you take any prescription meds, ask your doctor if it's okay to take them.  They could possible interact with your medications.
