  1. The copy of the birth certificate you'll need to have is a certified copy, not just a copy of your original you made on a copy machine.  If you don't want to bring your original you'll need to go to a Vital Statistics office to purchase a new one.  If you do not live in or near the county/state you were born, you'll have to order it online.  Try going to vitalrec.com or just google vital statistics and the county you were born to find an office.

  2. only if it is a certified copy of your birth certificate.  otherwise it is not considered legally valid

  3. It depends when you are traveling.  For now, you need a certified copy of your birth certificate for travel purposes NOT a copy you make with a copier.

You may be required to have a passport if you are traveling in 2009.

I would check with your travel agent or the cruise line directly to have this question answered.  It would be terrible to get to the port and be refused boarding on the ship because you don't have proper ID.
