  1. Some medications work faster when taken with a carbonated drink.

Some meds should NOT be taken with juice.

Some pain killers work more effectively if taken after antacids.

NSAIDS (advil, nurofen, panafen Ibuprofen etc) should be taken with milk or food.

Read the meds pack because some meds state specifically on them that they aren't to be taken with any acidic foods (ie fruit juice) and some ought to be taken with milk.

If the meds are prescription then ask the pharmacist to print you out the info which goes with the drugs from the MIMs On Line which they have access to on computer.

This tells you exactly which meds are incompatible with which fluids.

  2. Prior answers are correct but i would say with most painkillers available should be taken an hour after eating something as taken on an empty stomach can irritate the stomach lining leading to ulceration of the intestinal walls and also should be taken with water Only.

Yes, carbonated water will be fine and will speed absorption through the stomach walls through effervescence so entering your bloodstream faster.

[Unless you are taking really heavy pain management which needs to be rapidly absorbed and the risk of stomach ulcers is outweighed by the need for such rapid pain relief and the prescribing doctor recommends the medication should be taken on an empty stomach temporarily.]

That is standard for most Aspirin, Paracetamol and Ibuprofen painkillers and synthetic Opiate painkillers such as Codeine Phosphate.

True to say not all medications are the same, outside of painkillers, some meds need to be taken on an empty stomach and some don't so yes, always ask the Pharmacist.

You can be sure though, taking any tablet is best drinking only water to shuttle them into your stomach unless otherwise is specifically indicated.

[There was a chemical reaction when taking Aspirin with Coca Cola back in the eighties where it produced a mild high when taken that way but this is no longer true as the recipe for Colas were changed because too many teenagers were abusing Aspirin and Coca Cola.]

  3. I've done that before and there's no problem happened. So, that's supposed be fine.

  4. no fruit juice prevents it from working. id say take it with water

  5. No problem, only alcohol is the one to be wary of.
