Question:

Is it ok to trim your eyelashes?

I like to have my glasses sitting rather close to my eyes. That's just the way they feel comfortable on my face. The problem is that I have rather long eyelashes, and whenever I blink, it causes them to brush against the lenses, causing them to have a smudge in the center of the lens. So my question is this: Is it ok to trim your eyelashes? I would of course have my mom do it, but that is the only way to fix the smudge problem. I have read that they grow back longer if you trim them, but I wouldn't trim them hardly at all, just enough so that they don't touch the lenses of my glasses when I blink. If anyone has had this similar problem and has any advice for me that would be great! Also, getting contacts is not an option because I just got these glasses and they were rather expensive. So my parents told me to make them work. Thanks for the help!

  1. I have the same problem when I wear sunglasses, but if I were you I would get contacts and keep my eyelashes long.

But if you really like having glasses, go ahead and do it. At least they will grow back.

  2. i dont think u should trim them but i havent really been in ur situation b4

  3. I wear glasses too and have long lashes too..well not that long..anyway..DON'T TRIM UR LASHES..this is like the worst idea ever..well ofcourse i eventually got contacts..(after begging my dad )...but before that i just ignored it and i got used to it...or beg ur parents for contacts like i did..lol

if u're not that short sighted u can lose them and only wear them when u read or drive (if u drive)

  4. yeah i think that would work     i mean its all about being comfortable right??? ur lucky u have long eyelashes :D

  5. NO!

  6. Gosh, I would kill to have long lashes, your so lucky! Leave them the way they are and maybe get contacts? (:

  7. I had this problem..

& my eyelashes aint even that long.. hahah

I actually got contacts because it would be a problemm no matter what i did..

but since you said they were expensive and all that ..then maybe you should trim them just a littleeee!

    They do not grow longer.

    :)

  8. Youll prob regret this.

  9. It is absolutely untrue that your eyelashes will grow back longer if you trim them.

It is perfectly fine to trim your eyelashes. Use a small, fine, and sharp pair of scissors (not a big pair of kitchen scissors!). You can buy a pair of scissors for this at the local drug store in the make-up/beauty aisle.

You will need to trim them about once a month. A pulled out/fallen out eyelash takes about 8 weeks to grow back.

I recommend having your mom do it so you don't have to stress about poking yourself in the eye. LOL. Also, your eyelashes can be sensitive and will cause a reflex of eye movement, so close or partially close the eye being trimmed. That would be the best way to reduce/control reflexive eye fluttering.

Good luck, and I feel your pain, I have long eyelashes and wearing my sunglasses annoys the heck out of me!!

PS-If you have a special night out you can wear false eyelashes. They are pretty inexpensive and easy to apply.

  10. Curl them so that they would be curved so that it wouldn't touch your eyelashes? :/

  11. no way! don't EVER  trim ur lashes!! that's just insane! leave em' the way they are. it's best 4 a female 2 have long lashes. can't u just go back 2 the same place where u got ur glasses and ask them 2 make ur glasses a little longer 2 give u some room 4 ur lashes?

  12. nooo way do not trim ur lashes. BAD idea... i think u should talk to ur mom about getting contacts.  or ur just gonna have to clean ur glasses a lot... but seriously do not trim em. even if it's just a litle bit they will grow back way worse. ur lucky to have long lashes! when/if you get contacts they will be gorgeous and wont bother u at all ur lucky to have em!
