Question:

Is it ok to use different brands rechargeable batteries and charger?

They are both NiMH 1.2V AAA, but the charger is Sanyo Eneloop and the batteries are GP 2700. (The batteries are a pair.)

But, the batteries say 2600 mAh while the charger says something like 500 ma (without the 'h' at the end).

  1. yes, you can mix batteries, but they will only charge at the rate of the charger. So, if you have some older batteries in a newer charger, they may not like the higher charge rate. The batteries should all be the same charge rate.

  2. i dont recommend it. I did it once and the batteries started to leak acid. That is very dangerous. Dont do it

  3. i would thank it would prob be ok but i really dont know sorry !!!

  4. You should be ok, try it and let us know.

  5. No problem as long as they don't exceed the requirements of the charger And they must be the same type, don't mix!!!  I did this for a living for 45 years!

  6. They suggest that you dont use a different brand. But it may just be BS so you can buy there brand of battery.

  7. there is a simple rule for batteries and charger

if your battery is 2600 mAh then charging current (from recharger)   should be 10% of the capacity of the battery that turns out to be 260 mA so going by the rule you are going to give more current to battery it will work but then life will be shortened for the batteries.

  8. Most certainly!

You CAN use those rechargeable batteries on that charger without any problems. Just check when the voltage gets to 1.4 V, then take them off. Even though they are rated at 1.2, they all charge to 1.4, sometimes to 1.5.

This will not damage your batteries in any way. Just remember to take them off before they get over 1.4

Everyone is saying not to try it, but It is 100% OK, as I said, just take them off at the correct time.

I hope that solves everything. For any other battery questions, I'm your expert. Just email me.

  9. NiMH = Nickel Metal Hydride, the metal the battery is made from. As long as you are charging the same type batteries NiMH and not mixing with NiCad (Nickel Cadmium) and the mAh = Milliamp Hours are the same than brand name should not matter.

The 500ma is 500 milliamps, the amount of amperage it delivers during the charge process.

You should be good to go!
