  1. Yeah, finger mullet is a frozen bait you can use for cut bait. Lots of frozen baits you should use for cut bait. good frozen baits are shrimp, finger mullet, squid, spanish sardines.

    good luck

  2. When I bottom fish, I take my bait and freeze it over and over again (keep the squid in one bucket, use what I need, then put the bucket back in the freezer for the next trip.) SO frozen bait will be fine.

I do think for those two species though, you are going to be better with a flashy lure or spoon than a chuck of meat.

  3. Fresh bait is better, but frozen squid & clams are about all there is in my area & they stay on the hook pretty well.

When they're biting , they're biting & really do'nt  think it makes much difference.

  4. The only thing you will catch on that is catfish!

  5. Most saltwater anglers in the northeast have been using frozen squid and spearing for fluke fishing for years. Occasionally, a striper or blue will take the bait, but I wouldn't consider these prime baits, even fresh, for stripers or bluefish. Fresh eels, bunker, sandworms and bloodworms are the preferred baits for both.

  6. You're actually better off with fresh bait rather than bait that has been frozen. Not sure how they'll take to the squid though. It's worth a shot, just don't get your hopes up.Make sure you take something else just in case.

  7. I've used frozen and fresh and while fresh has an edge as do alot of the flashy lures - frozen does catch fish.

Presentation is the name of the game and it helps if they are biting too!!  Another approach may be to get a large silver / or gold spoon and put a fair to mid size chunk on it and throw it out - alot of times the fish BANG on a lure when it's flashing downwards and the taste of the squid may trigger a strike or cause them to hold on longer...

Similiar to bass fisherman who use pork rind or chunks on some of their lures...that little bit of bait hanging off as the lure moves thru the water may be enough to tantalize the fish into biting..

Remember a bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work !!

  8. i found one site http://www.marinews.com .. have very good tips & articles on fishing baits, riggs, knots .. and many more helpful articles on fishing ..search this sites ..

    Thanks,

  9. Ive actually seen frozen bait catch more than fresh bait, depending on the species of fish so go for it!
