Is it ok to visit my parrot and play with him during weaning?

I have bought a patagonian conure parrot from my local bird sanctuary, he is between 11 and 13 weeks old and is flying around. I have decided to leave his wings unclipped despite what the sanctuary told me. I have been visiting him every day as he is still weaning. Now today one of the staff told me to only visit him once to twice a week else it will take him longer to wean. I would like to know if this is true or not because we are really building a bond at the moment, and enjoying our time together for an hour daily.

  1. Well I would be upset if they told me I couldn't come as often as I wanted to.  Not sure how that would make it longer to wean, but I don't know about a conure.

  2. sounds to me like they just don't want you around as often as you are.  They may be hiding something.

  3. I kinda think Darren is right. I don't see why it would take him longer to wean. Its good that your spending time with him. That way he wont be that scared when you take him home. The sooner you bond with your bird the better I think.

  4. that seems kinda strange. I agree with what the first person posted. If i were you i would spy on them...

  5. 'Who's a pretty boy then'.
