Is it ok to write on rechargeable batteries with a sharpie?

I know permanent markers can eat through stuff like CD's, is it ok write dates on my batteries?

I'm just using energizer e2 rechargeables from walmart.

  1. I don't think it will hurt the plastic cover of the battery.  But if you want to be sure, put a small piece of transparent tape on the battery and write on that.  

      

      


  2. I do this all the time for a lot of different items. I agree it helps to keep things organized.

    Never had a problem with any of them. By the way, I also use them on CDs and DVDs too with no problems.. probably depends on the brand of disc used.

  3. should be, but why?  generally dates are for standard batteries so that you know when to change them.  you wouldn't need them on a rechargeable.
