A 1/2 " copper pipe goes through concrete foundation and then stonework to hose bib. Can I mortar right around the pipe inside and outside to seal the hole?

Thanks for your advice

  1. You can caulk around it.  Mortor will shrink.

  2. We sleeve it then caulk it. Concrete leeches lime (a corrosive) forever. It will slowly eat the tubing away.

  3. Concrete reacts with copper. If you decide to run your pipe through concrete, wrap it with insulation, or duct tape to prevent direct contact.
