I was holding my Teddy Bear hamster named Lewie yesterday and he looked fine. Nothing was wrong with his toe nails or anything, but today part of his toe nail is gone! It just looks like a piece of toe nail! My mom won't take Lewie to the vet for anything! And yes he has broken his toe in the past. Please HELP!!

  1. if part of his toe is missin thats bad but if its just his nail he prbly is fine.

  2. It's probably fine, you're suppose to cut their claws anyway. =]

  3. If he seems to be in pain - limping/squealing/not very mobile, you should pressure your mum to take him to the vets, or just take him yourself.  If not, I would just keep an eye on him, make sure you clean his toe with lukewarm water regularly so that it doesn't get infected, and if he gets worse, take him to the vets.

  4. If he is fine in himself, i.e not limping, squeaking, still eating and drinking, then it is fine.

If it starts bleeding take him to the vets,  you've got to let your mum see that if you don't take him to the vets, he could get ill if it bleeds, it could get an infection.

But only worry about that if he is not OK in himself.

    hope he's OK.
