My Daughter is 4 weeks old. She is a really good baby but she doesn't sleep well at all on her back or sides for that matter! I am scared to death that something is going to happen to her at night so I wont place her on her tummy when I go to bed. Any advice?

  1. only when your child is old enough to lift their head.  my son--who is now 19 mo , sleeps on his tummy and has since then

  2. NO!!!!!!!!!! it is not okay for them to sleep on their tummys!

When she starts to roll over on her own to her belly it is ok. but as for now if she cant get air she is too little to move her head to get air. and once old and strong enough to turn over on her own she will be able to get air if something happens

  3. no, she's not old enough.

when babies can roll over by themselves, then they can sleep on their tummy.

  4. yes its ok

  5. Well the pediatricians dont recommend it but both my kids slept on their tummies because they slept better.  I say go by your motherly instinct.  Just make sure there isnt any extra blankets or stuffed animals next to there face.

  6. It's up to you, what you are comfortable with! My daughter always slept on her tummy and never had a problem! Check with your pediatrician and then make your decision! GOOD LUCK!

  7. No,don't do it because of sids.

  8. No!!!!!

  9. its okay.

  10. NO. BABIES CAN SMOTHER BY SLEEPING ON THEIR STOMACH'S. IT IS CALLED SIDS. YOU KNOW WHAT I DID (MUCH TO THE CHAGRIN OF MY MOTHER-IN-LAW). I PUT MY SON IN HIS CAR SEAT TO SLEEP BECAUSE HE SLEPT SO WELL THERE. I JUST MADE SURE THE BUCKLES AND STRAPS WERE NOWHERE NEAR HIM. IT WAS THE ONLY WAY HE WOULD SLEEP FOR A FEW MONTHS TILL HE COULD MOVE ON HIS OWN. MY MIL WAS AFRAID IT WOULD IMPAIR HIM WALKING, BUT HE IS 3 NOW, NO PROBLEMS AT ALL. GOOD LUCK TO YOU!

  11. My son has been sleeping like that since he was a week old.He sleeps so much better that way.Of course he was holding his head up pretty well too. It's up to you.You could always try one of those sleep positioners and see if it helps.

  12. Nope, not for a while. She can't sleep on her tummy until she is able to roll over by herself. Stomach sleeping at this age will put her at much higher risk for SIDS because it can impair breathing. She needs to be on her back - not her sides, and not her tummy. She'll eventually get used to sleeping like this, don't worry. :)
