Is it okay for my brother to join the army?

okay here is my problem my brother told me he could go in as a cook and not get shiped off to Iraq he also told me that the cook is the safest job in the army i just want to know is this stuff true

Cooks go to Iraq. DFAC's would be pointless if there wasn't anyone there to make food in the chow hall - our troops would be forced to live off of MRE's again.

He and/or his recruiter is lying through his teeth.

When it comes to the military, there is no safe job. If your brother decides to join, he needs to get his head out of la la land and come to the realization that he will end up in Iraq or Afghanistan at one point or another during his military career.

It sounds like your brother is just trying to make you feel better. Cooks do go to Iraq (who do you think feeds all the soldiers who are there?). However, cooks are not out doing patrols and they are not part of conveys so it is considered one of the "safer" jobs to hold if you're deployed.

he mihgt go to iraq or some wear else but the cook is relly one of the safest jobs but if too many men wear lost (not likeley) he might have to fight like if they invade the camp but he will most like ley get a pisto for protection and becuz of emergencys he will have to go thru all the normal training plus geting cooking classes i would let him he could be the one to end it for all we no

Cooks go to Iraq. There is no guarantee that he won't be deployed. He may just be trying to make you feel better. Please support your brother!

Soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan need food! Everyone in the military is deployable, period.

on to days ARMY every body will deploy sometime, tell your Bro to do some college and if he still want to join the armed forces try to become an officer

Cooks deploy. h**l band members deploy.  He will be working in the defac granted and not outside the wire. Then again the army puts you where they need you sometimes so there is a possibility that he could go outside the wire.
