my rabbit loves to chew on shoe boxes and toilet paper rolls, so he has one roll in his cage to play with.

i usually feed him right when i get up, so around 7, but i woke up late this morning and he ate half the toilet paper roll! i feed him plenty of hay and some alfalfa everyday, so his digestion should be fine, but

is it okay for rabbits to swallow cardboard? or paper?

  1. As long as its just cardboard it's fine and paper with no ink or a soy-based ink.

My rabbit chews on paper towel rolls all the time.

  2. My rabbits used to chew the cardboard the ones in the toilet rolls and they were fine and lived to 10 and 12 , they just like playing with them to ! xx

  3. Cardboard has glue in it. If you don't have a problem with them eating glue then it's fine.

  4. As long as that's not all he's eating and they cardboard isn't painted or dyed you are perfectly fine.

He is probably looking to chew and wear down his teeth.  Just food and treats aren't enough to do that.  Maybe you could try some of the wooden blocks from the pet store.  My rabbit didn't care for them but my sister's rabbit loves the things!
