  1. I have a chinese dwarf hamster and she climbs up the side of her bars its totally normal and not just dwarf hamsters do it because me and my sister also have a syrian hamster each and they climb up their bars in the wild hamsters will climb so they will also climb in their cages to its fun to watch them and also you can make it fun by holding a treat in between the bars and making them climb higher to get it.

Hamsters love to climb so its nothing to worry their having so much fun thats why when they fall they come straight back up again. Hope this helped

  2. I got a hamster only yesterday,

I thought the ame thing are they crazy?? my hamster climbs up to the very top up on the bars and drops!! But i read my book and it says its normal hamsters love to climb!!

    Hope this helps!!

  3. yes it's okay mine used to do it all the time until it got fat and kept falling off lol.

  4. lol, they're just playing. Rodents like to climb and be up high =P

  5. nah theyre just havin fun but if they do it everyday like 24/7 then u should go to a dctor like if theyre not eating or drinking water..

  6. Don't worry, it is completely normal. It only says that you have very active dwarf hamsters.

However if your cage was a tall cage like Crittertrail 3, I would be concerned since hamsters are known for getting themselves hurt by falling from the roof of the cage. But if yours is a standard cage, then just put in a 2 inch thick bedding to soften their falls and let them enjoy their climbing. Also check for any sharp ends in the contents of your cage just to ensure that the cage base is accident proof for your hamsters.

  7. No, they're normal healthy hamsters:)

As you said, they're having fun, doing some excercise...don't worry.

  8. no they just wanna have fun maybe play with them every once in a while

  9. it is ok but make sure it dont fall as injureys can ocur

  10. dont worry, theyre having a blast. totally normal.

  11. It's okay. Dwarf hamsters are especially known for climbing up the bars. My hamster does it all the time! Soon enough, they get tired of it.

I would start to get frantic if you have a multi- level cage and only the bottom floor has the bedding. You might want to line it with newspaper on the very bottom and then fluff it up with some paper towel to break the fall. My hamster does this all the time and it's perfectly alright.

  12. I had this concern recently. My syrian climbs and also gnaws at her cage. They are just playing, but please make sure that they are safe.

Mine recently fell and injured herself badly. She has cracked a rib and twisted a piece of her cartilage towards the bottom of her ribcage. My vet says she will heal and thankfully she seems to have learned her lesson as if the cartilage had gone the other way, it could have punctured an organ.

Just a warning from my bad experiences...

  13. I know, I have a dwarf hamster, and aren't they funny to watch! Anyway, it is completly safe, dwarf hamsters LOVE to climb, and what goes up must come donw, so falling is a part od climbing. Id you want to reduce climbing on the bars, you could use tubes depending on the cage.
