WASHINGTON — Two-thirds of U.S. corporations paid no federal income taxes between 1998 and 2005, according to a new report from Congress.

The study by the Government Accountability Office released Tuesday said about 68 percent of foreign companies doing business in the U.S. avoided corporate taxes over the same period.

I'm really just curious why people complain loudly about other forms of welfare yet corporate welfare(which is much more expensive) is ignored.

  1. over 50% of all individuals pay no icome tax. And 25% of those get free money via the earned income tax credit.

Welfare = earns zero but gets free money from government.

Corporations may not pay taxes but those do not get free money.

STOP the liberal lies and hate.

  2. What is a corporation?  It's 401ks, shareholders (who do pay taxes), retirement funds, etc.  Corporations are US!  If taxes are raised on "corporations", either employees are paid less or denied raises, investors receive less return on their money, or the price of the service/product increases.  Sometimes all 3.  The concept of "corporate welfare"  is a catchy liberal phrase, but it is hollow, and has little to do with reality.

  3. Since I have to, no, it is not.

  4. Exactly how much do you want to pay for consumer goods?  The more a corporation is taxed the higher the price of their goods or services.  If we tax them a great deal I'm going to have to go on welfare to buy a pizza.

  5. Yes, because they take care of us and we should cater to the economy not the economy caters to us. Just kidding lol
