Is it okay to be an occasional smoker?

Hello,

A few weeks ago, i bought my first pack of cigarettes, and finally realized what smoking is really like.

Here are the facts.

Up to today, i smoke about 4 cigarettes per week.

I never smoke in the day. Ever!

What i like about smoking, is that it makes me feel sort of dizzy, and very relaxed...

Now, since i know smoking is very bad for your health, i've limited myself to only 4 cigarettes per week. I just tell myself that if i start smoking more than that, ill just get addicted, and on top of that i wont get that good feeling that i get from smoking it right now.

And also, when im smoking it ( usually in my room upstairs ), i usually enjoy putting some loud techno music on.

Do you guys think that i should break this habbit?

Is smoking 4 cigarettes per week putting my life in danger?

Thanks!

  1. Smoking any cigarettes is bad for you. And take my word for it, today you smoke 4 cigs per week, in a month you'll be smoking 4 cigs per day. In a years it will be a pack a day. Don't start, quit now.

  2. well, you may be putting your life at danger.  Its hard to know, because you may be fine or your body may be more sensitive to the carcinogenic effects of cigarettes and then you will have to wonder why you got cancer when all you did was smoke 4 cigarettes a week.

or, you may decide to smoke only one a day, after all, its only at night, and you've had a hard day.  then when its a really hard day you may have a couple.  then before you know it you smoke enough to have hit that threshold and you are addicted. And i know you are aware that that isn't where you want to be.

Or, you start drinking, and well, lets face it, a dizzy feeling from smoking while you are drinking is a great feeling.  so now you smoke when you drink and then that becomes a habit and you are smoking a lot more than you ever wanted to and you can't break the habit.

Then again, you may be perfectly fine. you may never suffer any health consequences, you may smoke those 4 cigarettes a week for a few months, then you realize you no longer get that buzz and so you stop your new habit because it no longer benefits you.  and that is that.  Or you pick up the habit every once in a while and stop when the dizzy feeling stops coming.

My opinion is that its not that bad, but you are setting yourself up to smoke more and more.  Humans have an incredible ability to justify things and therefore you can easily up the ante without really meaning to, and before you know it, you are a smoker when that was never your intention.

  3. Just visit a cancer hospital.... I bet you won't smoke again.

  4. SMOKING 4 cigs a week  is bad for your lungs. Even through that is all you smoke your still doing damage to your lungs & heart. Just trow them away. Don't smoke any more. If you keep smoking 4 cigs a week it will turn into more than that a week.

  5. 4 a week isn't even considered smoking. You feel dizzy because you're not getting enough nicotine in your system. The very little you get is what's causing your dizziness. The more nicotine you get, the less dizzy you'll get. If you were to smoking, the dizziness will stop too. Just a few isn't enough to keep nicotine flowing in your system.

So 4 a week isn't putting your life in danger. When you smoke a pack and a half a day like I do. Then we'll talk.

  6. You already are addicted. 4 cigarettes weekly, regularly=habit. You have enough nicotine in you to crave one now if you stop. So stop now before it becomes stronger, the mental association with things you enjoy as well as the physical craving will become difficult to contend with. Stop now

  7. You are an idiot.  Everyone knows smoking will kill you.  Maybe you just need to get a bladder cancer or worse, pancreatic cancer before you'll realize how stupid you are.

    STOP SMOKING
