  1. It depends how severe the thunderstorm is. If it is a small thunderstrom cell that dosent have any warnings posted you will be fine. If it is a huge thunderstorm cell that had or have warnings you might wanna get off the computer. Also if you hear the thunder but dont see in lighting you will be safe but if there is both thunder and lighting there is high chance of danger. But you never know lightning produces electric blots and your computer uses electricity and humans are mostly made of water which attracts electricity. So it would say get off the computer when you hear the thunder.

  2. It depend on the level of the lightning,if you could see lightning outside and there is no thunder(The booming sound) then it relatively safe to be on the computer(probablity of danger 8%) because it is either very far away or the lightning is from "cloud to cloud" if there is both lightning and thunder(danger level 93%) you better not plug anything unless you want to get "shocked".The most advisable thing (unless it is urgent) is to be safe than sorry.

  3. For you: Yes, it's safe

    For the computer: No.

  4. i always am.... but i got a really good surge protector with a $50k connected parts warranty (the thing cost me $40). if lightning gets through and fries something, apc will give me up to 50k to replace it. look for it on the box when you buy a surge protector

  5. no
