Question:

Is it okay to drink my own urine?

My friend told me drinking my own pee is good for me and can cure things like herpes and pancreatic cancer. Is this true? I have a jug full of my pee chilling in the fridge so I can test this theory and finally be clean. Does anyone have any stories from personal pee drinking experience?

  1. Why?  Unless you in a survival situation or the urine has been filterred for drinking, the answer is no.

To put you mind at ease there is a chance that you have been drinking not only your urine but the urine of others for years. Water in many places is treated and filtered, so the people in large cities are probably drinking the unrine of no less than 50 people.

Urine is a good gargle for soar throats due to the salts contained within. It has also been used for thrush on the faces of babies.

It is a good that you refrigerated it. Urine that has sits out at room temperature can attract and grow bacteria.

It is NOT recommended to ingest your waste products, unless in case of extreme, urgent, dire, emergency.

Also I would like to add-YUK!!!

  2. I think its a bad idea given my medical background, but I know quite a few people who know people who regularly do it with success.  It's a part of traditional medical traditions, and when they use it, it "seems to get results."  That said, they've all told me a very simple rule; you can only do it if you are a vegetarian.  If you eat meat the urine is toxic.

I would not advise it, but it's quite possible I'm just saying that out of ignorance on the subject (which I admit I have).  If you want to make a dent on the herpes infection, I'd recommend looking into hydrogen peroxide.  I know a few people who have done that with success, but all the stories I heard about urine therapy had nothing to do with needing to treat an STD.

  3. please please don't do that.

if it were true, then doctors would be telling everyone to do that.

    and they obviously don't

    not a good idea

  4. Hahahahahahahah...a 'friend' , huh?

Drinking your urine...not a good idea....at any time...but to drink it after it's been sitting in the fridge? Do me a favor...open it up and take a big whiff before your drink it....I bet that will change your mind. Lose the jug of urine AND the friend.

  5. Please don't be offended, but that's just gross.

  6. this question cracks me up. do you know what urine is? think about it. it's all of the waste that your body doesn't need, or want. it's got bacteria that your body is trying to push out. why would you put it back into your body?

  7. Did you know - about a third of the population of the US has  a urinary tract infection most of the time without even realizing it? So, think about this - Infection - pus. No, I think your friend has some strange ideas. If this was a real cure, someone would have discovered it and invented some machine to purify it so eveyone could drink their own.

I advise against this. I recommend cutting out things like smoking and drinking too much sodapop, fast food, and doing some exercise and drink nice cool clean water instead. Following your doctors recommendations are best.

What are you wanting to rid your body of so you can "finally be clean"?

  8. This is a false belief. There are lots of people who do it, (the same people who believe in ear candling, probably...) but it has been TOTALLY DISPROVEN, so do some research before trying something so dumb. Ever consider that your body KNOWS what to get rid of, and that maybe you shouldn't put it back in?

  9. Don't you dare. Especially not if it is pee from the morning. Of course it can't cure herpes and cancer, why the heck do you think doctors don't use it?

  10. With all the supplements and herbal medicines on the market. You really belief such nonsense. Ask your friend to provide some proof for you. Urine has no benefits other than being shown you can drink it to survive dehydration. Curious to know what kind of desperation you have in order to result in drinking your own pea. Other than to relive a scene out of Jackass.

  11. ur sick , urine is your body's waste . meaning it's TOXIC why would you want to try this? second are you stupid? wow

don't believe everything your FRIENDS tell you. they are either not really your friends or are really really STUPID

  12. Let me kow when u drink it,I just want to know if u will pee clear water.......

  13. Yep.  I like to have mine with a taste of honey and a twist of lemon.  It takes some of the bitterness out of it.  For a true refreshing expierence..try a mint leaf and float on top for a bit.

  14. We actually learned about drinking your own pee in Psychology...

It's really kind of gross. I think that whatever comes out is meant to stay out. I mean sure, your pee might have certain nutritional benefits, but couldn't you just get these by eating better?

It's actually kind of sick -- the idea of it. Some professors actually do teach this though. I have never drank my own pee, and I don't really plan on starting anytime soon...

Also, wouldn't there be a lot of bad substances in the pee along with the good things? I say kick the habit.

  15. I would only do that if I was pinned under rubble after an earthquake and was trying to survive...

  16. Ew, don't do it. You'll get even mroe sick. Seriously don't.

  17. Urine is, barring unforeseen circumstances, sterile.

So, if you want to drink your own urine as a party trick, go for it!!!

(But take good bets on the gross-ology factor)

  18. I'd suggest you throw it out. It can't cure ANYTHING. But it can make you ill.

  19. I was doing a bit of research on this subject, according to most people it is safe to drink your Urine, but obviously not recommended.

Urine is mostly water, and relatively sterile. But this does not mean it qualifies for the recommended 6 - 8 daily glasses of H2O, and here's why: in addition to the water content, urine contains trace elements of hundreds of other things —from undigested alcohol to nitrogen and potassium, and sodium, which makes it such a salty drink. Urine could — in rare cases — also have some toxic substances in it, such as lead or arsenic. It can also contain trace amounts of drugs that the urinating person has recently ingested, though probably not enough to actually give the sipper any high or show up on a drug test.

  20. Its simply amazing the things friends will tell friends.  And then people believe this rubbish.

Your friend is completely wrong.  Urine, while it does contain some minerals and nutrients, is your body's WASTE products - fluids your body is trying to get rid of because its toxic.  If your body needed that stuff, it wouldn't have kidneys and a bladder just to get rid of it.

Drinking urine is the same as drinking poison.

  21. ALthough I have no personal experience with drinking my own urine, I would not advise that you do it.

The reason its simple. Urine is body waste. Toxins and by products generated by what the body " does not need" is thrown out of the body in this fassion. Injesting these fluids again woul logically be harmfull to your body.

  22. wow....you are extremely gullable
