Since the salmonella scare is still on, I'm scared to eat it, but it's my favorite sauce. :(

Yes, its totally fine to eat canned tomatoes. The salmonella was only a threat to fresh tomatoes. Canned tomatoes are processed and cleaned. When restaurants had to stop using tomatoes, they switched to canned.
