Something that says "May Contain Traces Of Milk"? im Vegan and i heard that there is very slim chance of there even being any Milk in the product, they just state that on the packet so that they cant get fired. But then on the other hand wouldnt it be like supporting the factory that produces Milk or something? and Would you eat it or not?

  1. I grew up a vegetarian and my grandmother was almost completely vegan. The only dairy she consumed was that in cakes, ice cream and chocolate. If it says may contain traces of milk than it most likely doesn't have any. If it does the amount is nothing to be concerned about.

  2. I think many other products may Contain milk too..but like tehy don't mention it..//

I highly doubt it will contain traces...must usually not.. so its okay i think..

many brands produce animal products ..however you probably still would buy it??

anyway if it wasnt intentional i think its okay~

  3. Very simple, if you are so determined not eat or drink milk products, I would not drink or eat it as to not feel guilty about the consumption of milk products.

  4. I personally do not run into this problem with the vegan foods I eat.

However, "may contain traces amount of milk" simply means that they are made on the same surface that something containing milk was prepared.

I would not be worried about it because there is a very slim chance that there is even 1/100 of an ounce of milk in there.

And in the end what we do is for the animals not personal purity. The company will see the sales going for that product and realize they may have something of profit there.

You see where I am going?

  5. The warning isn't there for vegans, it's there to cover the company's back in the extremely unlikely event of a minuscule amount of milk somehow getting into the product and being consumed by someone who has an allergic reaction to it and wants to sue.

Yes, as a vegan I would eat - I do eat - products that carry that warning.

And I think it's a bit precious to avoid all products made by a company that also makes things containing animal products. We can't live in a bubble of purity, and anyway more companies should be encouraged to produce vegetarian and vegan items. Boycotting the few that are made unless they come from vegan companies is counter-productive.

  6. That information is for people with allergies so the company can't get sued if someone has an allergic reaction.

I would eat it. It's similar to a veggie burger being prepared on the same grill as meat. The veggie burger may come into contact with the meat juices, but this doesn't increase the demand for meat. It doesn't require more animals to be slaughtered.

As Caturdayz said, veganism isn't about personal purity. It's about trying to make choices that reduce suffering.

  7. I'm not vegan, but as a vegiterian- I avoid things that state they might contain something that's animal-derived...

Also, I refrain from buying products that I know are manufactured by a company that also manufactures meat (or a company that uses animal-testing, like P&G, Loreal, Covergirl, etc. ...).

But it's all a matter of ideology & your own free choice, I guess :)

  8. I am not a vegan, but it is up to you if you want to eat it.
