I have twooo yummy mountain dews, and i want to freeze one to keep it cold for the whole day (like you freeze a bottle of water) Well, I KNOW this wont happen but for some reason im stupid and think that if I freeze the mountain dew, when it melts itll taste different. Idk why i think this but i do lol its like i think freezing a liquid somehow creates water out of nowhere and makes the liquid all watery i dont know hahah

but would a bottle of soda still be okay if i freeze it?

haha just watch it somehow explode in the freezer hahahahah

  1. haha sounndss funnnn i would do it but on the contrary the chemicals in the bottle like leak into the liquid and like they say it can cause more chances of cancer. BUT WHO CARES!! live i say do it sounds fun but yea omggg put a mentos in it cap it FAST then freez it...then when its frozen go outside and let er ripp

  2. Well, if you freeze something it expands anyway, so drink a few big sips before you put it in the freezer. The actual freezing will cause the drink to be more concentrated in some areas but quite watery in others, so that's one way the taste will be effected. However, this can sometimes be rather pleasing if you like strong drinks but not very nice when the watery bits come. One other way the taste will be affected is that it will taste slightly flat, but except that it should be fine so i'd say go right on ahead. Happy freezing!

  3. NO!!! DO NOT FREEZE IT!! My mom tried that with Red pop and after like 2 hours we opened the freezer and it had exploded EVERYWHERE! It made the ice sticky and gross, and it's impossible to clean it all out. If you leave the cap off, it wont explode, but it will go flat and get gross.

  4. no matter what, if you freeze anything, it will taste different(except water)

it tastes different because when you freeze it it turns into ice and then when it melts, it will start to taste watery and disgusting...you can drink most of it and then leave a little bit left in the bottle so you can try it if you want!

  5. if you freeze the soda it will expand alot and also when it melts, the water will take longer to melt than the rest of the soda so it will be extra sweet and after that the soda will be not so sweet

  6. Well, if the bottle is unopened, it may burst in the freezer. So when you go to thaw it, it will leak everywhere. So if you do want to freeze it, you should open it first and pour a little out, so there will be enough room when the soda expands.

Also, after it's thawed, it may not be as fizzy after it's been frozen, so keep that in mind.

  7. actually if you drink it throughout the day with a portion of it still frozen it will taste different, it will be more concentrated in certain parts and the melted part won't be equal, its nasty i've done it with soda and especially gatorade is the worse to freeze and drink with part of it still frozen :(

  8. haha. i say, do it.

    experiment.

    see what happens?

its not like they're that expensive.

they probably only cost like less than a dollar.

They might taste different. like maybe

    not as fizzy?

i put coke and stuff in ice trays and they don't explode.

    but they aren't sealed shut.

  9. experimentation is the beginning of discovery...i've frozen the stuff before in cans and didn't have any unfortunate experiences upon opening them... i don't know how frozen they got though...they were simply under the dry ice for most of the day... a nice little cooler with ice keeps them cold all day though (unless its a hundred like it's been)

  10. OMFG!

I always put pops in the freezer with the cap completely closed and all air sealed off, it explodes all over before I can even get it from the freezer.  I hate to admit it, but it's freaking so much fun.  Of course I only do it at my mother's for my father doesn't even like me sitting in my room by myself watching tv. xD

It shouldn't taste different.  If you take the cap off first it'll not explode, but where's the fun?!

  11. If you want it to Explode: Put it in the freezer over night and take it out side and throw it on the driveway! THROW IT HARD!

If you just want to drink it: Put it in the fridge and get a coke cover! it keeps it cold for 3 hours and then put it in the fridge or put fake ice cubes in there (fake ice cubes are covers over the ice so cokes dont get over watered!) And if you put it in the freezer it will get over done and blow up in the freezer! Its fun but hard to clean! heres what could happen: http://ask.metafilter.com/52074/How-long... hope i helped!

  12. The soda will explode. You've said you've done this with water bottles before, but water is H2O, whereas soda has a completely different chemical makeup, so it will explode, Like, go shake a bottle of water and it won't explode, but if you shake a bottle of Mountain Dew, it will.

  13. It will explode, but then again, you can take some soda out, (like you said) and freeze it. It will still probably explode!!!!!awesome...lol ok well ive never tried freezing mountain dew or any soda, but what is there to lose? TRY IT!!! make a mess

    >_< lol... but anyways ive tried freezing pink lemonade, iced tea, and other stuff and it tasted  the same. The only thing that makes it taste different is when you l**k all the lemonade, (or whatever liquid you froze) then it will take it out of the ice and then it will just taste like ice...

    confusing ~.~...hope i helped

  14. I t actually does explode if you freeze soda.  The carbonation in soda makes it expand much differently than water or other liquid.  If you freeze it allt he way it will either shoot the lid off to make more room or start oozing out of the bottle--either way, you'll have a big mess!

  15. lmao! ur so funnyy! i wouldn't worry about it not tasting as good as when you had it unfrozen, and im pretty sure it wouldn't explode, it would freeze just like any other liquid in the freezer.  try keeping it sealed though, before freezing. lol, good luck =D

  16. well one time i put a can of coke in the freezer and i forgot it was in there and then it exploded.(it was in there for two or three weeks but i think it would be ok if it wasn't a long time like that) it was so funny! it looked like ice cream to me.

  17. yeah it'll taste a bit yucky idk y it just will but if u do freeeze it open it first and drink some of it will explode from the fizzyness inside also it wont be fizzy wen it thaws ( i think thats why the taste is effectid) idk hope i helped

  18. when you put a can of soda in the freezer, the liquid will expand.

the expanding liquid, having no where to go, deforms the can.

so basicly, putting a can of soda, not a good idea :)

but if its in a bottle (non-glass!) go for it

  19. well i think if you drink some first it should'nt explode! hopefully! haha!:)

i think it taste different cuz after it "thaws" it gets all watery and flat! =p

it's kinda liking putting a whole bunch of ice in it and letting the ice melt!:)))

  20. it looks like you've raised the most interesting question ever, hahaha. my bet is it will gradually expand and blow up, water cant hack it, and all the acids and carbination would just top it off i'd imagine. no doubt youve already drank them..or found out..so i dont know why im answering this question but im really bored. im going to find out for myself one day =] good luck with your whole 'soda issue' haha.

  21. i have froze a bottle of mt dew before and it did taste weird. but thats just me.

but you dont want to keep a can of soda in the freezer too long.

i did that and when i took it out the top was rounded and not flat anymore.

then i opened it and it exploded all of my room and on my cieling.

    it was really funny though.

  22. LOL

    BLOW IT UP!!!

    HAHA

Actually, it does. Well, I can't say that.

I was at a buddies house lastnight and we had sunkist in the freezer for awhile and we forgot about it

Then like 5 hours later the cans were all bulging and ready to blow up haha

  23. It does taste different b/c when it freezes, then melts, some of water in the freezer, atmosphere, etc gets into the liquid when you open it to melt. Thats why it doesn't taste as good when it freezes then melts lol...

leave it for about 1.5 hours...YUM chunky!! send me some!

  24. Sometimes, when u freeze it, the concentration goes to the bottom of the drink, but that doesn't work with soda, and stuff :D so go for it, it should taste the same. Also, drink some and THEN put it in the freezer with the cap ON.

BTW: Here's a little tip! You could get an empty bottle, any kind, water, soda, whatever. put a LITTLE bit of water in it. like a 1/4 of the bottle, Then put it in the freezer. when its frozen, pour the soda in the bottle, and it will keep it cold for almost the whole day! That's what i do and it works REALLY well!

    GOOD LUCK!

  25. Yes, If you leave it in there for a long period of time it will explode. Empty maybe a quarter of the bottle and you should be fine, It will have plenty of room to expand. Maybe you should just keep it in a cooler with an ice pack to keep it just right? Or put it into a plastic bag with ice cubes. There are plenty of creative ways to keep it cold ;]

I mean what about getting a bowl full of ice cold water and keeping it in there. You decide.

  26. i think it would taste different...i think you are correct. Because you freeze it the ice will melt into water. Although water is obviously already in soda, what this will do it make every sip tase of slightly less flavor and sugar and fizz and wutever. It will only change the taste a little bit anyway so it shouldnt matter much

  27. OMG i had the sats recently and it was reallly hot so the night before i put a bottle of water in the freezer.the next morning i took it out and i was like whoa  because i didnt know ose expanded.i didnt think much of it at the time and i put it one the table when i was doing the sats.then it exploded luckily it didnt go onto anyones test sheets!

    lol a dai 2 rememba...

    keep us updated!

  28. Freezed soda doesn't  taste good in my experience you can freeze but it may dis form the can but it doesn't explode easy, if its a glass bottle it will I had a classmate that did that and the glass exploded when he open the freezer and the glass cut his forhead.

  29. -*_*_*_*_*_*_*TRUST ME ON THIS!!!*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*-

It's alright that you do it if you TAKE SOME OUT FIRST about 2 inches of liquid out. BUT THE ONLY PROBLEM IS if you do freeze it, certain parts of the soda will melt and all you taste all day is a REALLY STRONGE SUGARY SUBSTANCE, as for the rest still frozen that is the water/sulfur/whatever....So then when you drink all of the unfrozen strong nasty sugary substance, by the time the rest thaws, it'll just be watery and flavorless.

  30. My family freezes cokes all of the time. I'm guessing it should be okay. BTW if it doesn't work out than you know not to do it again, and that you had a cool little experiment on your hands! Good luck! Tune me in on what happens? :) And thanks for answering my question!

  31. ok here is the thing ...if its a can of pop it will eventually explode but if its a bottle no.

as for the taste it will be wattery if you dont completey let it defrost before you drink it...for example if you drink it while its still mostly frozen then you drink the sugar and there will only be ice left..get it.
