  1. no it won't hurt.... but you don't want to get some one to start drinking so early because when they grow up you do want their amount of liquor to increase....... but a wine cooler won't do any harm.

  2. Alchohol in small quantities are not harmful. Teach her that a little wine is good in moderation. Do not do it with out her parents permission and do not do it in public.

  3. Why would you even do that? She's 13 not only is that setting awful example but she is still developing and it though it won't do some serious life threatening damage but it could still harm her.

  4. As far as hurting her physically...No.  In many European countries, kids that age and younger routinely drink beer and wine with every meal.

HOWEVER:  It is against the law in every state to provide alcohol to anyone under 21.

  5. nooooooo wayyy

    that's even horrible to ask

    it is NOT okay

it will definetely harm her and make her want more and more.

    it's not okay

    do not do it

  6. It's illegal.  Want to go to jail for contributing to the deliquency of a minor.  Not worth it.  Tell her to wait until she's 21.

  7. #1 it's ILLEGAL!

    #2 it's immoral

    #3 it's dumb

#4 if your old enough to be in LEGAL possesion of an alcholic beverage, WHY THE h**l ARE YOU HANDING AROUND A 13 YEAR OLD????

#5 if your her parent you need to be slapped!

  8. It probably won't harm her, unless she's allergic to an ingredient in it, but it's illegal.

  9. Yeah I think it would be okay and shouldnt harm her. It's not like you're just opening the booze cabinet and saying ''have at it.''

Besides, if you make it like it's forbidden to drink a little alcohol before she turns 21, she'll go off and sneak a drink here and there.

  10. see how much the label says the percent of alcohol is in it it should be about 5% in it or more, but that will make her throw up.Then she might pass out and have a stomach ache for about 2 days and you should take her to a doctor then, but then you might go to jail for giving alcohol to a minor so don't give it to her.

  11. What do you think?

    UM YES!

She might be too young to inhale it since you have to be 21!!!!!!!!! She may have a reaction or end up vomiting, or thinking this is okay to do on a normal basis. Use your head.

  12. First, I want to say I was born in a European country, where the culture and laws are completely different from here. Now, I was introduced to alcohol at a very early age. I was introduced to red wine when I was seven-ish. I have tried beer, Irish cream, champagne, French liqueur, martinis, margaritas, vodka and Manhattans etc. My parents were there when I tried them all, and it is not a huge deal. I don't want to give people the impression that I was some sort of alcoholic as a child, nor that my parents are alcoholics. The US government bombards society, particularly the youth, with laws about alcohol, which results in parties where teens get drunk and end up in jail. Alcohol is a forbidden fruit here, and that just makes teenagers want to try it more.

Right now, I am a 20 year old college student with an academic scholarship studying biology, chemistry and political science. I plan on getting a Ph.D in virology. I am not trying to brag, but just want to show you that drinking at an age before the law allows you to in the US has had no effect on me, or the rest of my family for that matter.

  13. I've seen this happen so many times... first it's a wine cooler, next it's a bottle of vodka.

It would be very unwise as she would be seeing that you are encouraging drinking and thus, think it's okay to be drinking at her young age. It would be a healthy decision for your daughter if you don't allow her to drink. Thirteen-year-olds views are very different and they are easily influenced and undergo enough peer pressure to drink as it is.

  14. Wow three pages for this question!?!!

No, it will not do any harm or damage to her. It doesn't have enough alcohol in it, as long as she only has a sip.  It will be out of her system the next time she uses the bathroom.

However, it is illegal to do this.

  15. No, it won't harm her. Just make sure she understands it's a special treat and not something she gets to do all the time. Wine coolers have a very low alocohol concentration, so most likely she won't even feel a "buzz" - although she may act like it b/c she wants to feel one! My mom used to let me split a wine cooler with her every now and again, and I got to have a small glass of wine on New Years when I was around 13 or 14, and I've turned out fine - in fact, I don't even drink at all now! (24 now!)

  16. no it wont harm her since there is very little alcohol in it. also, it's not illegal if it's your own daughter in your own house...idk why, but that's what i learned in health class

  17. No, it won't harm her, and as long as she is with resposnible people (parents or guardians) then I can't see any harm.

My parents used to give my sister and I half a glass of wine mixed with lemonade with dinner if it was a special occassion, because they said they wanted us to know and be familiar with alcohol so that when we were legal age we didn't go out and totally abuse it because we had never tried it before.

It worked - we have always had a healthy respect for alcohol and although we do drink, we don't abuse it.

  18. This is coming from a 13 year old Canadian raised in a European home. Half a wine cooler give her the whole thing! it wont harm her at all wine is good for you and ive been having wine for a while and i have a 95% avarage so it wont harm your brain, plus half or a whole cooler wont get her drunk so let her enjoy it! in England i can order a drink next year and Ive already drank in a Italian bistro so don't sweat it I'm sure it  will raise her self confidence knowing you trust her so much and she will view you as a lot cooler (pun intended)

In no way is it illegal (in canada anyway) to give a child a drink in a private place ive had a sherry with cops before

remember to tell her the importance not to abuse alcohol i drink enough but ive never been drunk and i dont plan on it!

I cannot believe these questions? a coma? die? pfft i was eight when i first had wine it taught me to use it in moderation once im 18 im not going to a huge party to get "wasted" im going to go to a bar and order a scotch with my family and a few friends. teach her that talking with ones close to you is the best part of drinking (the alcohol is the "side dish" if you will) if any thing happens to her i will fly down there and pay for the medical bill personaly.

  19. It shouldn't. Its like what .5% alcohol. However, this shouldn't become a habit. But its okay for only one reason, this way the teenage girl wont be as inquisitive about alcohol (or what the other adults are drinking) and wouldn't start drinking at a early age.

  20. well, i dont see why not. I'm 14 and my parents get me a whole pack of wine cooler now and then when we have a party. The alcohol percentage isn't high so it couldn't be that harmful. Give it a try

  21. In other countrys its fine but im guessing your in the US so its illegal. Wouldnt be that bad if she was like 16 but 13 is young to drink. It wont harm her though unless she drinks the whole bottle

  22. It's NOT ok & it WILL harm her.

Who cares how much alcoholic content is in it?  You are very irresponsible & I pray you're NOT the mother - because if you are you - you are in TROUBLE -

  23. It probably won't "harm" her, but in the US it is illegal, and the party giving the drink could technically get in trouble.

Is this a family dinner where she's having a sip or two of wine, or is this an older brother's highschool party and this is the first step to getting her hammered? That's more of the issue for me than the actual alcohol.

  24. ***** please!

People come on! I've been drinking a little wine with my parents since i was like 8.

It won't kill her to get her used to small amounts of alcohol early so she won't react so badly later when she has her first.

It's prolly actually a good thing to teach her to drink responsibly!

  25. No, wine coolers have very low alcohol percentage and it will not harm the girl, just don't make it an every-day thing.

  26. Its absolutely fine, people who are saying it will harm her because its illegal; you're absolute morons. I would like to point out that different countries have different drinking ages, those ages do not change the effects of the alcohol, short minded people like you make me angry. For example it is allowed for children in France to have wine with their meals and with their families, also she will probably not even like the taste of it (I know I didn't) and stay away from it for a while until she feels like trying it again. It's not like shes going to go and get smashed every day one wine. Deal with it, experimentation is normal.

  27. I'm not a doctor but, I don't think it will harm her or make her sick or anything. It may just show a lack of responsibility, in others' opinions. But as for her health, I think it's fine.

  28. No, it won't harm her, but it's not exactly the smartest thing to do.  Let's just assume you're not a parent.  Might want to keep some bail money in your shoe:)

  29. It's okay, at the restaurant my sister used to serve in, she'd see families giving younger children alcohol.

    IT'S NOT NECESSARILY ILLEGAL.

You can legally buy alcohol for a minor in a restaurant setting, so long as you're the parent/guardian. In Canada, at least. Where our legal drinking age is 18. I'm a little fuzzy on in a private setting, i.e. at home or wherever, but I'm fairly confident that's legal too, as long as you're the parent/guardian, again.

Maybe you shouldn't give her half of one, try and give her a quarter or something, and don't forget to reiterate that people shouldn't drink to get drunk, and that she shouldn't go out and do these things. Depending on your views, of course, but I think that teens shouldn't be going out and drinking if they're under 16, and even then it's sketchy.

A big thing is: If you teach her that it's something she can't and shouldn't have, the more she's going to want it. That could just translate into more problems when she gets older. Teach her that moderation is key.

  30. thats funny that so many people are so against it because it's the "law" that the gov't decided to force upon us.  that little amount of alcohol is negligable and will not destroy her brain.  You are not setting her up for alcoholism, in fact you are doing the opposite.  You are teaching her how to drink responsibly and are removing the stigma of alcohol.

No it is not illegal to give your kid a little bit of alcohol.  Police officer told me that.  A parent can supply alcohol to their own kid but not others.

I've been having wine at church since i was like 8.  These people need to get over themselves.

  31. Unless you want her to fall into a coma and die after 15 minutes, ITS NOT OKAY TO GIVE A 13 year old teen 1/2 a wine cooler

Girls are more prone to becoming drunk then boys because their bodies have less water. Women should not have more then 1 drink a day if you want to benefit from alcohol. And giving a minor alcohol can result in charges against you.

1/2 a wine cooler will put her life on the line of death for good. It will harm her well.

    Don't do it
