I am a single mom in Texas and have primary custody of my son. I currently live in a 2 bedroom apartment, and due the dramtic rent increase will probably have to go to a one bedroom? Is this allowed?

  1. i gave the kids the rooms and took the living room. actually i really liked it, hung curtains from the ceiling and had enough room for a king size bed at one end.

  2. i think you should explain to him whats going on,,

maybe he can sleep in the living room,,

but if he is young,, i dont think it would matter,,

but you should keep on looking.

    good luck!

  3. It shouldn't be an issue. Just make sure there's plenty of space for privacy for both of you. You'll both need it.

  4. Its not ideal, but you have to do what you have to do.

  5. It's weird if he's older, but up to probably age 6 or so it should be ok. Different beds I hope?

  6. As long as you have separate rooms, you're fine.

  7. It's fine.  I'm a single mom too and know that sometimes we just have to do what we can.  If you don't already have one you might consider investing in something like a futon for the den area that could serve as a couch during the day and a bed at night.  That will give separate sleeping areas for the two of you.  As long as you and your son have a decent place to live, that's all that matters.  Make sure that your landlord is aware that there are two of you living there and you shouldn't have a problem with them.

  8. Maybe you could sleep on a sofabed in the living room.

  9. I can't see anything wrong with your son sharing your room.

You just do the best you can until things improve!

  10. You didn't mention how old your son is however,  if you just can't afford the rent increase then you need to do what you need to do. While it is legal for having a one bedroom,  someone needs to sleep on the living room couch otherwise it wouldn't be healthy. Good luck.

  11. if he like under 7 then its ok but if not find somewhere else to sleep on make sure u guys have lot of room in the bed for ur on privacy.

    hope this helps

  12. Who would find out?you do what you must to survive if that means one bed room well then what can they say other than this girl needs more child support, there is nothing wrong with living within your means

  13. Of course it's ok.

  14. That would be weird. Whatever you have to do, don't do that.

  15. depends on the age of your son. If he's still in a crib it should be ok.

  16. actually yes so long as the bedroom goes to your son and you sleep on a pull out sofa.
